FAQ's

Booking your theory test

Where do I book my UK car theory test?

On GOV.UK at gov.uk/book-theory-test, the official DVSA booking service. You need your provisional driving licence number.

How much does the car theory test cost?

A car theory test costs £23, paid to the DVSA on GOV.UK when you book. FastPass never charges to book.

Is FastPass the DVSA?

No. FastPass is an independent theory test study programme. It is not the DVSA and is not DVSA-accredited. Booking happens on GOV.UK.

Are the FastPass mock tests free?

Yes. Free mock theory tests with 50 questions and 43 to pass, like the real test, with the topics you missed shown at the end.

Can I practise hazard perception?

Yes. FastPass has hazard perception clips scored like the real test. You can try one free after a mock test, and every clip comes with FastPass Kit Plus.

FastPass and the theory test

How many questions are in the UK car theory test?

The real DVSA car theory test is 50 multiple-choice questions. You need 43 to pass. This FastPass page is a free 50-question mock in the same shape. It is practise, not the official test.

Is this the official DVSA theory test?

No. FastPass is an independent car theory study programme. We are not accredited by the DVSA. Passing this mock does not pass or book the real test.

Is there a free mock theory test in the UK?

Yes. This page is a free UK mock car theory test. You answer 50 questions, you need 43 to pass, and we show you the topics you missed. No card. Car theory only.

What is the pass mark for the UK car theory test?

You need 43 out of 50 on the questions and 44 out of 75 on hazard perception. The FastPass practise examination is marked on both. The mock test is marked on the questions, and the hazard perception mock test on the clips.

How long is the UK car theory test?

The real DVSA car theory test has two parts. You have 57 minutes for 50 multiple-choice questions, then 14 hazard perception clips (one of them has two hazards). The FastPass practise examination is marked on both parts, 43 out of 50 and 44 out of 75, and each part has a mock test of its own. It is still practise, not the real DVSA test.

Is this actually free?

Yes. The car theory mock on this page is free. No card. Create a free FastPass account (email and password) and your scores, flagged questions and pass streak follow you on the website and the app.

Is this only for the car theory test?

Yes. Every mock, practise examination and quiz on FastPass is for the UK car theory test. We do not cover bike, lorry, bus or ADI.

Do I need an account for the free mock?

What is the FastPass kit?

It is the full training programme. Videos and modules that teach you how to pass your car theory test, plus mocks and a tracker. This free page is just a mock. The kit is the teaching.

What is the free test then?

A 50-question mock. After each question we tell you if you got it right. You can also take a timed practise examination, like the test centre, where you do not get told until the end. You need 43 to pass. When you finish you see the topics to work on. Passing here does not pass or book the real test.

What happens when I finish?

You see your score and the topics that dragged you down. If you have not bought the kit yet, we will show you the training programme: videos, modules, and the 80% off offer.
